About S.O.S.
S.O.S – Save Oroklini’s Stray Dogs consists of a team of dog lovers, who dedicate their time to caring for and rehoming the stray dogs that come into the village pound of Oroklini. So far we have rehomed dogs to the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands and Sweden.
Albeit managing the rescue in a rudimentary facility, every dog that enters our care will be safe in a haven of love given by dedicated volunteers. The dogs are provided with medical attention and our constant efforts are geared to give the dogs a wonderful life until we find them a forever home, which is our ultimate goal.

Our aim at S.O.S. is to find loving and suitable forever homes for our rescue dogs.
We believe that there is a suitable home for every dog. Therefore, we assess every home on its individual merits and profile, and strive to match those with the right dog.
what we do
What we do at S.O.S.
S.O.S ensures that each dog that comes into the municipal pound in Oroklini is cared for. In accordance with Cypriot law, if no owner is found within 15 days, these dogs are at risk of being euthanised. With our help, this is avoided.
We provide the dogs with food, medical care, and daily walks and playtime to enrich their lives whilst under our care. Some dogs under our care require rehabilitation and we will give them the time they need to recover until we search for their forever home.
Our goal is to find each dog a suitable forever home to ensure its happiness, but as well that one of its new family. We strive to find the best match possible for every dog in our care.
Over 1 400 dogs have been saved by us since our start 10 years ago.

Fostering
Fostering
Fostering is a bridge between the pound and the forever home, and provides a fantastic launch pad for every foster dog. Local foster homes are particularly important for young pups, who would be exposed to high risk to parvo in a pound environment.
Not only does a dog learn more about home life when in foster care, it also allows a dog to do meet and greets with potential adopters and gives us access to an abundance of rehoming sites closed for overseas dogs. This is particularly the case, if the dog is being fostered abroad.
With a few words, fostering saves lives.
